Couponing at Rite Aid 101

Rite Aid is a great place to coupon at. So many deals every week. Most of the deals at Rite Aid involve earning BonusCash, which you can spend like cash the day after you earn it.

Here's what you need to know to get started:

Wellness+Rewards card
 - this is a free rewards card that you get from Rite Aid; if you don't have one, stop in at Rite Aid and get one today! You will sign up using your phone number; you can request a physical card at the time of sign up and it will be mailed to you. You need to sign up for a Wellness+Rewards account to get all the great deals that Rite Aid has to offer, but you do not have to have a physical card - you can simply enter your phone number during your transactions. You can sign up in store or online HERE. Every time you shop, you will want to scan your card or enter your number so you can earn wellness points, and earn and spend BonusCash. If you have a wellness+plenti card, you can still use that card. You do not need to get a new card.

Wellness Points

The number of wellness points you have determines your savings level at Rite Aid. You earn wellness points on every purchase - 1 point for every dollar you spend (before coupons). Everyone starts out with "Bronze Status"
  • Bronze Status - 0-499 wellness points - earn a 10% off shopping pass for every 100 wellness points you earn, up to 499. The shopping pass will take 10% off of the regular price of every item in your transaction, or you will get the sale price, whichever is the better deal
  • Silver Status - 500-999 wellness points - 10% off the regular priced items in all your transactions. If an item is on sale, you will get the sale price or 10% off the regular price, whichever is the better deal
  • Gold Status - 1000+ wellness points - 20% off the regular priced items in all your transactions. If an item is on sale, you will get the sale price or 20% off the regular price, whichever is the better deal

Wellness points reset on January 1st each year. Whatever status you earned the previous year will remain in place until December 31st of the following year. So you have until December 31st to earn enough wellness points to make your status for the following year. You can see your wellness points status on every receipt. Wellness points have no cash value - they are simply a way of tracking your spending and rewarding you for shopping.

BonusCash
BonusCash is rewards you earn at Rite Aid for purchasing specially marked items; these items change each week and can be found in the weekly ad. BC  earned can be spent after 6am the day after earning. BC can even be used for tax!

You can earn BC in store (and online) by purchasing specific items each week. Sometimes you have to spend a certain amount to earn the BC; other times you have to buy a specific number of items to earn the BC. These details are in the weekly ad, as well as on the tags in store. Note - offers that require you to purchase "two" will not track - you must buy both items in the same transaction; same with offers that require that you spend $9 or less - they will not track either. Offers that require you to spend more than $9 will track on the bottom of your receipt so you do not have to purchase all at once.

You can earn BC and redeem BC in the same transaction. BC earned today can be redeemed after 6am the next day, and expire 60 days after earning. After you scan your card (or enter your number), you will be asked on the pin pad if you want to redeem your BC. There is no way currently to only use partial BC.

You can find a list of your accumulated BonusCash in the Link2Card coupon section online or on the app. However, if you earned two BC for the same deal, only one of them will show. To verify how much BC you have, go online and add some high-dollar items to your cart. You should then see your BC being deducted.

Riteaid.com
You can access your wellness account online as well. You will have access to your account information and wellness status, and you can sign up to receive emails from Rite Aid that oftentimes contain valuable coupons. You can also search products - I find this extremely valuable when I am working on a breakdown and I'm unsure of the price of an item. I have found the prices online to be pretty accurate to what I find in store.

Coupon Policy
Rite Aid accepts up to 4 identical manufacturer coupons per transaction. They accept insert coupons, internet prints, peelies, tearpads, etc. They also accept store coupons. Store coupons can be found in the weekly ad, online, and occasionally on the product. Many of the store coupons say "manufacturer coupon" on them; however, if you look at the barcode, it will start with RC48 or RC49 - that means it is a store coupon, and can be "stacked' with a manufacturer coupon.

One thing to be aware of is that Rite Aid does NOT allow a manufacturer coupon on an item that is made free by a sale. So if an item is on sale in store "Buy One, Get One Free", you can only use a manufacturer coupon on the first item. Their policy does not allow a coupon to be used on the free item. In addition, you cannot use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale or a BOGO-50% sale.

Rite Aid also offers Link2Card coupons. You can access those through your wellness account online. Simply click on the coupon at it will be added to your card and will automatically deduct at the register when you purchase the item. These coupons are one-time use and will disappear after you use them, and will only apply to one item. These are usually manufacturer coupons and cannot be stacked with an additional manufacturer coupon, but can be stacked with a store coupon. Occasionally, you will find a store L2C coupon. These can usually be determined when you click "info" on the coupon - no remitting information is usually a sign that it is a store coupon.

Also be aware that some items in the ad require that you purchase a certain number of items to get the sale price. For example, if the ad says "2 for $5 or $2.99 each", you will have to buy at least 2 items to get the sale price of $2.50. If you only purchase one, you will be charged $2.99 (minus gold or silver status discount). However, as long as you purchase AT LEAST 2, you will get the sale price for any quantity above two as well. So, if you purchase 3 items, you will be charged $2.50 for each one.

Official Coupon Policy can be found HERE

Wellness Wednesday

On the first Wednesday of every month, known as Wellness Wednesday, Rite Aid issues coupons geared towards the needs of seniors. On this day only, you can find a coupon booklet in store - usually on a table at the front of the store or near the pharmacy. While these deals are geared towards seniors who are part of the Wellness65 program, the coupons do not specify that theyare only good for seniors. These are store coupons, and can be stacked with manufacturer coupons, and are typically high value.

Note - some stores may insist that these are only to be used for Wellness65 members. It is the mananger's discretion, as with all coupons.

Wellness+ Allergy Program
Rite Aid's allergy program rewards you with BonusCash when you purchase any allergy products. You must sign up for the program by printing the barcode FOUND HERE and presenting it to the cashier prior to your first allergy purchase. You only have to do that one time and you are enrolled for the remainder of the year. Once you purchase $75 in qualifying items (before coupons), you will receive $20 BonusCash. The spending does track - you do not have to purchase all at once. It will track for the entire year, and there doesn't appear to be a limit to the number of times you can earn this reward.

Catalina Coupons
Rite Aid is a retailer with a catalina machine (most locations). Several different types of coupons come out of that machine.
  • Weekly Sales Suggestions - this is string of ads for the upcoming sale, based on what you usually buy - just an ad, no coupons
  • Rite Aid Coupons - these may say "manufacturer coupon" on them, but the barcode begins with a "RC" - that's how you know these are store coupons and can be stacked with manufacturer coupons. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for these printing. These coupons are not currently tied to your plenti card, so can be used on a different card than the one it printed for
  • Manufacturer Coupons  - these also say manufacturer coupon on them, but have a normal barcode, and cannot be stacked with another manufacturer coupon
  • Catalinas - these are $-off coupons that are not for a specific item, they are good "on your next order" of just about anything in the store. These print when you purchase specific quantities of specific items (changes monthly) - new offers are added all the time. If your catalina does not print, there is nothing that can be done at the store level. You will need to contact catalina - fill out THIS FORM and your catalina will arrive via usps mail within 10 days or so.

Couponing With Kids  how can you get out and do your coupon run with the kids and get your savings?? Totally cool Tips

There are many days that shopping is a necessity.  You run out of essentials or just have a haul you have got to get done.  Here is a helpful list of ideas that may help you shop with little ones and still get the savings you need.   First and this is the easy button Tops markets has a program they don't advertise very much.  Its the their kids program.  You can go to the service desk and pick up 2 circle cards (may not be available in all stores).  One is good for a free peice of fruit for kids under 12 the other is a free cookie from the bakery and it also comes with a 1/1 birthday cake coupon for the Tops bakery on the back.  If for some reason your store doesnt have the cards let me know and I will get you some just fill out the contact form below with your address and how many you need for your kids. below are some other ideas I have used to keep my little ones happy in store

UPDATE SOME STORES NOW HAVE A BIN TO SELECT A FREE FRUIT FROM AS OPPOSED TO THE CARD .

1)  get a pound of a sandwich meat cut they have on sale at the deli.  Once they hand you the package give your child a piece its perfectly ok the price is allready attached to the bag.  Same goes with  the bulk foods section just weigh it first and attach the sticker label to the bag then it makes no difference if your child munches it in the store.

2)  If you dont like the food ideas a game I have my older ones play is coupon finder.  They watch for smart source blinkie machines and get 1 coupon each of each one and when we leave they count them (and I get 2 or 3 of every coupon )

3) If they are old enough looking for items or counting things into the cart works well too.

4) For infants I found using a baby bottle warmer car adapter let me bring a warm bottle and also at a bit older the cart cozy is a great thing to have.  Also with car seats there is a variety of toys that attach to the seat or that can attach to the hooded part that baby may like to look at.

Have any tricks of your own please share so I can add them to the list!!

3 for 5, 4 for 10, 2 for 5 WHAT???

2/9/2018

Sometimes I feel like you really need a calculator in the store I mean why is it 4 for 10 always sounds better then 2 for 5 yet they all mean $2.50 cents????  same deal with 6 for 10 always sounds like a better deal then 3 for 5 but in reality they are all 1.67.  Here is a chart to figure out reg prices and this site is mobile friendly so if you bookmark it you can just go right here while you are in the store and save yourself the headache!!!  I will soon be doing a rite aid chart for you with all the prices and their corresponding price with gold and silver status for you too.

2 for 5.00 = 2.502 for 6.00 = 3.00
2 for 7.00 = 3.50
2 for 10.00 = 5.00

3 for 1.00 = 33 cents
3 for 2.00 = 66 cents
3  for 4.00 =1.33
3 for 5.00 = 1,67
3 for 6.00 = 2.00
3 for 7.00 = 2.33
3 for 8.00 = 2.66
3 for 9.00 - 3.00
3 for 10.00 = 3.33

10 for 1.00 = 10 cents
10 for 2.00 = 20 cents
10 for 3.00 = 30 cents
10 for 4.00 =40 cents
10 for 5.00 = 50 cents
10 for 6.00 = 60 cents
10 for 7.00 = 70 cents
10 for 8.00 = 80 cents
10 for 9.00 = 90 cents
10 for 10.00 = 1.00
10 for 15.00 = 1.50
10 for 20.00 = 2.00
with ten for anything sales just drop off the last zero of the price hence 10 for 30.00 would be 3.00

20 for 10.00 = 50 cents

NOTE ALWAYS WATCH FOR DEALS THAT REQUIRE QUANTITY Stores such as Tops and other stores when required will state an other quantity price if you have to buy in quantity if they dont then you can get the price even if you dont buy the amt before the price

ALSO NOTEABLE if an item at Rite Aid is BOGO and they do not have 2 they give you the item at half price

Couponing at Walgreens 101

Walgreen's (Wags) has a rewards card. It is free. If you don't have one - stop by your local Wags and get one today! You will need the card to maximize your savings and to take part in their rewards programs.

Wags has two different rewards programs - Balance Rewards and Register Rewards. One definite benefit to Wags is that there is no limit to the number of times you can do each deal, as long as you follow the guidelines below. With that said, please note that the store does have the right to limit certain deals.

NEW POLICY - Wags no longer allows you to use a q on a free item. If an item is made free by a store sale, such as Buy 1 detergent Get 2 free, you can only use a man-q on the item that you are being charged an amount for. This is due to their new policy that they will not accept a man-q that has a higher value than the selling price of the item. In the BOGO detergent example, you are being charged $6.49 for the first one, so you can use a q. But you are being charged $0.00 for the other two, and therefore cannot use a man-q on either of those items.

NEW POLICY - as stated above, Wags will NOT ACCEPT any coupon that is a higher value than the selling price of the item. Per corporate policy (link is below) they will not even accept the coupon, even at a lower value.

Balance Rewards (BR), also known as "Points"
As you scan the weekly ad, you will see that some items will give you "points" for your purchase. You must purchase the items listed, in the quantity listed, in one transaction to get the points. You may buy multiples of the same item in the transaction to get the rewards multiple times.
* If the deal requires that you spend a certain amount (Example: Spend $20, get 8000 points), you will not earn the points if you pay with points
* If the deal requires that you purchase a certain number of items (Example: Buy 2, get 2000 points), you CAN pay with points and still earn them.

* You can use coupons and Register Rewards in your transaction and still get the points.
* Points accumulate on your card and expire 3 years after they are earned, or after 6 months of inactivity.
* Points are worth roughly $1 for every 1,000 points. However, if you accumulate a greater amount of points, they are worth more.

     -- 1,000 = $1
     -- 5,000 = $5
     -- 10,000 = $10
     -- 18,000 = $20
     -- 30,000 = $35
     -- 40,000 = $50

Register Rewards (RR)
As you scan the weekly ad, you will see that some items will give you Register Rewards for your purchase. These print out after you pay for your transaction. You can buy multiple items that trigger a RR in the same transaction, as long as you are only doing one of any particular item - you must do separate transactions for identical items.
* You cannot use a RR to pay if you are buying the same item, or the RR won't print out. There are occasionally exceptions to this, but that would be due to a glitch and cannot be counted on. The RR also will not print if the item you are buying is from the same company/family of items.
* In some cases, you cannot pay with an RR by the same company as the item you are buying, or the RR won't print out.
* Each individual RR is considered a man-q. Walgreen's requires that you have at least as many items as you have man-q's. So, count your number of items. Then count the number of coupons you plan to use, including any RRs. If you have more q's than items, you will need a FILLER. A filler is a low-value item (such as a holiday pencil or a piece of taffy) that you put into your transaction in order to be able to use your RRs. This is only necessary if you have more coupons/RRs than items. (Wags q's DO NOT count against your coupon-to-item ratio)
* RRs do expire, usually two weeks after earning - the expiration date will be printed on the RR.

Beauty Enthusiast Club
Walgreens has recently started a new promotion to earn points on beauty purchases. Every $50 spent on beauty gets you 5000 points. Included in this promo: cosmetics, skin care, hair care, oral care, and grooming products. You must sign up for this promotion. GO HERE to sign up!

Wags Coupons
Every month, Wags puts out a Monthly Savings Booklet. These can be found at the front of each store, usually next to the sales ad. You do not need to remove the q from the book - the cashier just has to scan it. The q will apply to all applicable items in your transaction; it does not have to be scanned multiple times.
There are also usually coupons in the sales flyers. Typically, there is a limit imposed with these q's. Look at the individual q for any limits.
You can stack Wags coupons with man-q's for greater savings!

Paperless Coupons
Walgreens offers paperless (clip-to-card) coupons through their app. You simply clip these to your card and they will be automatically applied during your transaction. These are typically manufacturer coupons and cannot be stacked with other manufacturer coupons. Sometimes, there are clip-to-card coupons for bonus points and these vary by user.

Couponing at Target 101

11/13/2016

Picture
There are several ways to maximize your savings at Target. On top of manufacturer's coupons, you can also use Target web coupons, Target mobile coupons, Cartwheel, and Price Matching.

Target accepts up to FOUR identical coupons per household per day.
It does not matter what order to present your coupons, unless you are using a $/$$ Target coupon - present that FIRST since it relies on you spending a specific amount in order for it to be used. Present all coupons and cartwheel before any types of payment (checks, cards, gift cards, etc.)

Target Coupons
You can stack a Target Coupon with a Manufacturer's Coupon on the same item. You can only use one Target coupon per item (EITHER a printed q or a mobile q - NOT both).

Web Coupons
To print Target coupons, go to www.target.com/coupons - oftentimes, these coupons will coincide with sales and/or man-q's so that you can maximize your savings. You can print each coupon a maximum of two times per device. You will probably have to download their coupon printer - it is safe, but is necessary so that coupon will print with a usable barcode (just like coupons.com). Some of these coupons are Target coupons, and some are Manufacturer coupons. Hover over the coupon to see which one it is. Or if you print it out, look at the top of the coupon - it will either say Target Coupon or Manufacturer's Coupon.

Mobile Coupons
Occasionally, Target has coupons that you can get via text message. Details about these coupons can be found in the weekly ad or on signs in the store. You will text the code word to TARGET (827438). You must have the cashier scan the bar code at the top of the mobile coupon. These are Target coupons and can be stacked with MQs.

Cartwheel
Cartwheel is an app for added discount on certain items - you can save anywhere from 5% to 50%! Download the app onto your mobile device. You will be given your own unique barcode (some phones have a Widget for the barcode so that it is on your home screen instead of having to open the app for the cashier to scan). Within the app, you can find a list of all the items that currently have a Cartwheel on them; there is also a search bar so you can type in an item. In addition, there is a barcode scanner - if you have time, use this scanner on every single item in your cart before you check out - you never know what you might be able to save on! In order for the Cartwheel to give you the discount, you must select the item within the app. You will have a limited number of spaces, and more will be added as you use it.

Typically you can use your Cartwheel for up to FOUR items per offer per transaction, up to SIX times per day (some offers are more limited - check the details of the offer). And you must have the cashier scan your unique barcode. Cartwheel discounts are applied AFTER Target coupons, and BEFORE man-q's.

Please note - you may also find some $-off coupons within the cartwheel app. These are Manufacturer Coupons and cannot be stacked with any other MQ.

Price Matching
Target does Price Match! There are a few guidelines, however.
* Price Matching is done at the Customer Service Desk
* You CANNOT use a Target Q or Cartwheel on a price-matched item; you can, however, use a Manufacturer's coupon
* If you are AD MATCHING, you must provide a paper or digital copy of the ad and it must be valid for the date you are price matching
* If you are PRICE MATCHING an online price, the Target rep will look up the price on their iPad. The price must be valid at the moment of the price match and must be in stock.
* Typically, Target will not price/ad match between Thanksgiving and Christmas
* Target will price match only certain online retailers. The list of retailers can be found HERE
* When price matching online retailers, the items must be sold by and shipped by that retailer and must be in stock
* They will ad match "competitor's local printed ad"
* Target guarantees their price for up to 14 days after purchase - if there is a lower price (within 14 days of purchase) at any of the places they ad/price match, you can go to customer service for a refund of the difference

BOGO Coupons
Target does not allow you to use coupons on free items...
If you are using a BOGO man-q, you can use ONE additional TQ on those two items
If you are using a BOGO TQ, you can use ONE additional man-q on those two items
Also, if you are using a BOGO man-q, you may NOT use an additional cents-off q on either of those two items (you can't do this at any retailer, but Target has stated it very specifically in their policy)

Target Mobile App
In addition to Cartwheel, there is also a regular Target App. Here you can look at the weekly ad, make a shopping list, and find a store.

Target's Coupon Policy can be found HERE

Couponing at CVS 101

11/10/2016

Picture
CVS is one of my favorite stores to coupon at! Maybe that's because it's where I got my "couponing legs". I'm from the Midwest, where there was a CVS around every corner. Now I'm in Upstate New York, and there aren't nearly as many CVS stores (but we have Rite Aid up here!), but I still make sure to shop there at least once a week to take advantage of their great deals!

Here's what you need to know to get started:

Extra Care Card
 - this is a free rewards card that you get from CVS; if you don't have one, stop in at CVS and get one today! You need to have a card to get all the great deals that CVS has to offer. Once you get your card, make sure to sign up online with your card number and your email address so that you can receive special email coupons. Please note: ONE CARD PER HOUSEHOLD.

Extra Care Bucks (ECBs) - these are like CVS cash. You earn ECBs when you buy certain items at CVS, as indicated in their weekly ad. The rewards and items change weekly. When you purchase an item that give you ECBs, the ECB will print out on your receipt after you pay. Here are some guidelines for ECB:
  • Some deals require the purchase of a specific number of items ("Buy 2, Get 4ECB")
  • Some deals require that you spend a certain amount ("Spend $30, Get 10ECB"). You must only meet the $-purchase requirement BEFORE your coupons...and you only have to meet 98% of the required spend, so if the required spend is $30, your ECB will print when you hit $29.60 before coupons. Another thing to keep in mind with these deals...if you do not spend the entire amount in one transaction, the system will reduce the amount you spent to the next lower dollar. So if you spend $9.80 in one transaction on a deal where you need to spend $30 to get the ECB, they system will only recognize that you spent $9.
  • Once your ECBs print, you can use them like cash on just about anything in the store, except liquor, tobacco, lottery, gift cards.
  • ECB deals can only be done a limited number of times, as indicated in the ad.
  • ECBs do expire, usually one month after printing. They cannot be re-issued and they cannot be accepted after the expiration.

Beauty Club
 - Sign up online to receive 5ECB for every $50 in cosmetics that you spend (before coupons!). Once you have spent the required amount, the ECB will print at the Red Machine. These are called Beauty Bucks.

Red Machine/Box - Inside the CVS store, usually not far from the front door, is the red kiosk machine. Make sure to scan your Extra Care Card everytime you go in. It will print out CVS coupons for you to use. Some coupons will print for everyone, others print only for you - they are based on your personal shopping habits (so if you buy diapers at CVS, you will get store coupons for diapers). You can maximize your savings by using these q's! At CVS, you can "stack" a man-q with a CVS q on the same item. Make sure to scan your card until the machine says "Hey Super Scanner" - more and more coupons may continue to print!

Emailed Coupons - Another way to get store coupons is by signing up with your email address. You can do this by going to cvs.com and clicking on Extra Care. Then click on My Information. On the right side of the screen is an option to "Opt In" - make sure you say yes. To be noted: many members have found that they stop receiving emails from CVS after couponing there for awhile. It is kind of a wash - you may not receive the emails anymore, but you are receiving many more coupons from the red box. There really is nothing you can do to begin receiving emails again, other than getting a new card and using a new email address - unfortunately, this means that you will have to re-establish your shopping habits to start getting lots of red box coupons again. (Some people have found that changing your email address helps, but this is not guaranteed, nor is calling corporate)

$/$$ Coupons - These are CVS q's that print at the Red Machine, and also sometimes on the bottom of your receipt. These are purchased-based coupons - they require that you spend a specific amount on certain products in order to get the discount. An example would be "$5 off any $15 cosmetics purchase". This means you must spend $15 (before coupons), then the coupon will take $5 off. You can stack this with other CVS q's (such as "$5 off any 2 Revlon cosmetics), as well as applicable MQs ($3 off an Revlon lip product)

Quarterly Bucks - CVS tracks your OOP each quarter - Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sept, Oct-Dec. Then, on the 15th of the month following the end of the quarter, the Red Machine will print out an ECB worth 2% of your spending for the previous quarter. This is a percentage of your actual SPENDING - the actual cash that comes out of your pocket at the end of each transaction, after all coupons, discounts, and ECBs are used.

%-off Coupons - CVS will sometimes issue coupons that are for a certain percent off your purchase. These are sometime emailed to you, sometimes printed at the red box, and sometimes in the ad. These coupons are good for regular-priced items only; however, they can be used on items that trigger ECBs, as long as the item is not on sale. The value of the coupon is figured up by the amount you spend AFTER the use of $/$$ q's, Beauty Bucks, and force-printed ECBs, but BEFORE other CVS q's and MQs.

Erie County Super Refund Information

6/23/2015

What it basically says is that if a customer is buying an item and the scanned price is higher than the shelf price, then if they pay the scanned price, the service desk must provide 10 times the amount of the difference.

Below is the info from the Erie county.gov page CLICK HERE to view or see below
Scanner Accuracy

CHECK THE PRICE...

Many stores use electronic scanners to figure the price at the checkout counter. These scanners are linked to a computer that reads the price of the item. Some scanners are hand-held and the clerk runs the scanner over the price tag. Other scanners are on a counter and the items are passed over an electronic reading device. The scanner reads a code on the product or the tag and the computer computes the price.

Many weights and measures officials inspect scanners to make sure you are charged the correct price. If the scanners are inaccurate, consumers and businesses can both lose money.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

  • Watch as the price of the item shows on the checkout register.
  • After the sale is completed, ask the clerk to check the price if you think the scanned price is incorrect.
  • If the scanned price does not agree with the posted price, request a super refund and ask the store manager to correct it.
  • Save the cash register receipt in case you have questions or a problem later on.
  • If the problem is not resolved, contact your local weights and measures office for help.
In Erie County, we enforce provisions of Local Law 7 (1997). At all establishments, which were granted a waiver from item pricing, the store is required to pay out a 'super refund' when a pricing error occurs. This is 10 times the amount of the error, not less than $1 or more than $10, plus the amount of the error. They are required to properly fill out Erie County's Price Discrepancy Report and give a copy to the consumer.

Its hard enough sometimes to just get your coupons in order and do a trip without having to read a very confusing coupon policy.  When I first started out I lost a lot of deals just because they make it hard to know the policy and even worse is if a cashier doesn't know the store policy.  I have even doe trips with the policy in  my pocket if I think there may be trouble like walmart runs lol.  Pictured is a letter I received after trouble with doublers I carry this letter every doubler week and you should too they actually took mine xerox'ed it and it is hanging in the wrights Corners tops office!!!  This was a letter due to the store not knowing the definition of what a coupon is as decribed in the what is a coupon post found here..

Anyways always know your policy below is Tops Markets Coupon policy its in black my writing or guiding you through it will be in red also any opinions I have and some comedy will be in red as well lol.  Things I blue are things to really pay attention to!!

Tops Markets is happy to accept  your manufacturer coupons under the following guidelines: should say usually is lol

Tops reserves the right to limit the quantities of coupons redeemed per day   per customer.  They usually don't but they don't like it if you use more then 10 of the same coupon in one transaction atleast at my store they like it when you break them up into more transactions if you self check you should be fine no matter how many (keep in mind as far as gas points for coupon use your better to do transactions of just 10 coupons each that way you get the max of 10 cents off a gallon per transaction you see they give you 10 points per coupon all the way till 10 coupons which is a max of 100 points which is equal to 10 cents a galloon if you use 11 you will not get 110 points it maxes at 100 points for coupon use)
  • TOPS reserves the right to accept or reject any coupon.  All stores have this right in their policy I have never had it happen to me and you can always just say oh well take that off my order then.
  • The coupon must have an expiration date that has not expired. Coupons rarely have a start date but almost all have an expiration date.  You can use a coupon on its expiration date.  Some stores allow military families to use coupons as much as 6-9months after expiration tops does not.
  • Only one (1) manufacturer's paper or Click-to-Card coupon may be used on an   item not to exceed the retail price after all TOPS BonusPlus®  discounts are applied .  You cant use a click to card and a manufacturer coupon a lot of blogs say you can but a lot of times you just lose your coupon I have yet to use a paper coupon and a click to card now that the newer barcodes scan.  Also now that they scan you cant get an overage by having them hand typed you could when they were hand typed due to them not tagging or recognizing the price of the item.  If you have coupon that will double lets say your item is 1.00 and you have a 75 cent coupon that doubles it will only double for 25 cents free is what you will pay and that is usually as good as tops gets
  • TOPS will accept only one (1) manufacturer's paper or Click-to-Card coupon   for an advertised Buy One, Get One Free offer. We will not accept a   manufacturer's coupon for the product that is received free as part of a Buy   One, Get One Free offer.    What this means is if you have a buy oe get one sale on lets say chex mix so you put 2 in the cart you have to pay for just one item.  If you have a 1 off 2 coupon you have to get 4 chex mix to use the coupon this is because when you get 4 you are getting 2 free but only paying for 2.  Same goes with a buy one get one coupon and a buy one get one sale.  If you want to use a bogo coupon on a bogo sale you have to get 4 items 2 will be free due to the store sale of the two you have to pay for you use your bogo coupon and pay for just one and get another free you are  buying one and getting 3 free
  • TOPS will accept one (1) manufacturer's paper or (1) Click-to-Card coupon   and one (1) TOPS paper or Click-to-Card coupon for the same item not to exceed   the price of the item. No cash will be given back if the coupon value exceeds  the value of the item. TOPS can not accept a manufacturer's paper coupon and a  Click-to-Card coupon on the same item.  This is a lot of redundant talking basically you can use 2 coupons on one item but only if one coupon is a store coupon (very rare)  and one is a manufacturer coupon even catalinas (coupons that print at the register)  that say manufacturer coupon cant be combined with anything other then a store coupon.   Another thing here is a lot of Tops store coupons say one per customer on them so even though like right now I have 10 sabres inserts of tops coupons I can only use 1 of each coupon per transaction.
  • Free coupons will be redeemed for the retail value of the item after
discounts or the maximum value stated on the coupon whichever amount is less.  This means if you have a coupon that is mailed to your house or found in the newspaper for a free item lets say you have a free Mr Clean coupon for this example and Mr Clean is on sale for 2 dollars a bottle (in my dreams lol)  on free coupons there is usually a maximum value lets say the max value is 2.50 the reg price is 3.49 but because its on sale for 2.00 they only subtract that 2 dollars from your order and should accordingly write 2.00 in a blank on the coupon.  Example number 2 you have a free gortons fish coupon max value is 8 dollars and the fish is 8.99 even though your coupon states "free"  you will only be able to take off 8 dollars from the item so you would still pay 99 cents.
  • TOPS does not accept competitors' coupons, including competitors' Catalina,   competitors' paper or competitors' electronic coupons.  This one here doesn't need much explaining except for if you get a catalina register coupon from rite aid even though its a manufacturer coupon you cant use it at tops
  • We will not accept photocopies of any coupons.  Making photo copies of coupons is illegal and you can be charged with a felony for doing it so its a no no everywhere
  • Under Criminal State Laws, we are required to comply with all manufacturer's   coupon requirements. Any other use constitutes fraud.
  • If you forget to use your paper coupons at the time of purchase, we will
accept them with your receipt and TOPS BonusPlus® or up to seven (7)   days beyond the date on the receipt, provided that the coupon has not expired.  This is one of my favorite things about tops they will if you forgot your coupons on your trip and keep your receipt and coupons they will give you your money and take the coupons as long as they have not expired just take coupons and receipt to customer service within the 7 day limit of the reciept
  • TOPS does not guarantee in stock conditions on products for manufacturer   paper coupons, Click-to-Card coupons, paper internet coupons or $1 Coupon   Doublers. Rain Checks will not be issued for any manufacturer's coupon,   Click-to-Card Coupon or $1 Coupon Doubler.  This is pretty plain you can rain check the sale but if your coupon expires before you can find it in stock then you lose out you cant raincheck or extend the expiration of a coupon
  • Where available, TOPS GasPoints® earned on the redemption of
manufacturer's paper coupons limited to 10 coupons/100 TOPS
GasPoints® per household, per day. TOPS GasPoints®: offer
excluded from TOPS store coupons, Super Coupons and Click-to-Card coupons.  Offer  applicable during TOPS GasPoints® earning time periods. See   TopsMarkets.com for details.   This is what we discussed above if you use more then 10 coupons in a transactions you cant get more then 100 points a transaction for coupon use and I have to say it pays to split them up into 10 coupon per transaction transctions to maximize gas points  I try to keep it to 5 transactions a trip but I have been told if I want to do a ton I can call ahead and they will get me my own checkout and cashier for me

Double Coupon Policy

Customers with a TOPS BonusPlus® will receive double the value of
manufacturer's paper coupons with a face value of up to 99¢.  This means if you have a 99 cent coupon you will be able to take off 1.98 from your purchase of that item.
  • We reserve the right to limit four (4) double coupons per same item, per   day, per household.  You can use 5 of the same in a transaction but only 4 will double also  if you use (4) 75/1 and (4)  85/1  coupons on the same item they all will double due to the fact that they are different coupons value wise.  I have never seen more then 4 of the exact same (value date and expiration) double the registers will not do it yet if you do 4 per transaction you can get them all doubled by breaking the coupons into multiple transactions to get the max savings.
  • Coupons with a face value of $1.00 or more will be redeemed at face
value.Double Coupon Policy does not apply to customers without a TOPS   BonusPlus®, FREE coupons, manufacturer paper coupons that states Do   Not Double, in-store coupons, Catalina coupons, Click-to-Card, or any other   retailer coupons.  please see the section on coded to double coupons here if you missed that post !!!  Catalina say do not double and also if you click details on all their click to card coupons they all say do not double.
  • The total value may not exceed the price of the item. Certain items may be  excluded by law.  The coupon can exceed the value but the best you can get it with the coupons is free at tops
  • When available, TOPS limits $1 Coupon Doublers to four (4) $1.00
manufacturer's paper coupons, per household per week, paired with a TOPS $1   Coupon Doubler redeemable during the current offer period only. Coupons of less than or greater than $1.00 value can not be paired with a $1 Coupon Doubler.  Ok to start here you can use 4 doublers per transaction.  They must be paired with only 1 dollar coupons that will double.  Granted we have all heard of them scanning the doublers first but I think the problems with doublers may have been fixed don't quote me there but there was a time there was an issue I have a letter in the last post that I received I carry it with me all doubler weeks the glitch was that if coupons took the total below 20 before the doubler the doublers would not scan which was not how it should be.  As long as you total is the required total to use doublers before coupons then you can use them see the letter at the bottom of this post.

Internet Coupons:
We will not accept printed internet coupons for "free" product,
buy-one-get-one-free products or a value greater than $5.00.  Ok if your printable says the word FREE on it don't take it to tops lol they will not take printed free item coupons that say free or bogo on them.  They also will not take a printed coupon worth more then 5 dollars so take it to rite aid lol
  • The coupon must be obtained from a legitimate website.  I have never had a printable that was not from a legitimate site so not sure where they are talking about

  •
  • We reserve the right to refuse any internet coupon that appears to be
fraudulent, photocopies (mass produced), counterfeit or invalid for any other   reason.   This is where knowing what cashier you will have or your store in general comes in handy there is no point in duking it out with a cashier if they say they cant take it call a manager and if its still a problem I would just put the item back call corporate or email [email protected] or just try again another

What is a coupon???  Why would companies issue such a thing????

11/23/2013

You may think that this part is not important but it is.  It comes up almost every doubler week and tons of other times so I need to get this part out before we can  move onto other things.

The definition of a coupon:  A form of payment just as cash, credit,  debit, EBT, and checks are..
Bing definition is :  Voucher redeemed by a store or company:  a voucher that entitles somebody to a discount, refund, or gift, typically issued as a sales promotion

Why do companies do this?  Well the answer to that is one of many the easy answer that everyone likes to hear is they like to do it when they change packaging launch a new product but the answer really is something I found in an article that most people really wouldn't like to hear especially if they don't use coupons.... here is some stuff from wiki

Coupons can be used to research the price sensitivity of different groups
of buyers (by sending out coupons with different dollar values to different  groups). In addition, it is generally assumed that buyers who take the effort to  collect and use coupons are more price sensitive than those who do not.  Therefore, the posted price paid by price-insensitive buyers can be increased,  while using coupon discounts to maintain the price for price-sensitive buyers  (who would not buy at a higher price). When these  coupons are entered at the time of the checkout process, it reduces the order  total for the customer.

def this whole wiki is a good read for all of it go here

What does that mean in the matchups???

11/19/2013

Ok I should have started here ever looked at a set of matchups and said WHAT????????  The abbreviations are many and to me this far into it seem normal I even have my own sometimes lol I will add them at the end.
1.)  first any number like this 1/1  the sequence for the coupon is
coupon value/off how many of a product
2.)Instant savings-  Instant savings means when you reach the amount you have to buy like save 5 instantly when you  buy 5 it comes off the order before you pay as long as you buy 5 of the items
3) Catalina a coupon that prints out during your purchase or just after for use on your next order (we will get into the types of these in my next blog)
3)  abbreviations
OYNO=on your next order (usually in the form of a catalina coupon)
BOGO= buy one get one free  ( we will get into different stores and store policies on coupon use during these sales in a later blog)
BOGO50% = buy one get the second half off (if you use a buy one get one coupon on this kind of sale they usually will deduct the half priced item from your order)
B1G2= buy one get 2 free (tricky cause tops for instance will only accept coupons on the ones you buy so if you get just 3 you cant use a 1 off 2 coupon you would have to get 6 so you are paying for 2
WYB= when you buy (usually used in a sale where if you buy one thing you get another free or if you buy in quantity you will save so much instantly)
CTC coupon= click to card coupon (a coupon you must register your account online and go to coupons and click to add to card)
Printable coupon=  usually in a matchup highlighted in a different color means you need to click the link and then print that coupon to use it 90% of these are 2 prints per person or per device not per printer but per computer and cell tablet etc if you have a wireless printer also can be printed at a library or some office max and other office locations
MC= manufacturer coupon  you can only use 1 for each amount stated on the coupon so if you hace a 1 off 2 of a product coupon you can get 2 and take a dollar off the cost if you only have one coupon you cant get 4 and use the coupon to take it off every 2  that you get without more coupons
SC=store coupon usually you can use one of these and a MC together to get 2 tines as much savings on an item
SS- smart source so if you see 10/13 ss it means the coupon they are talking about is in the October 13th smartsource (found in sunday papers and in other states sometimes Wednesdays not in NY or PA as far as I know)
RP-  again if you see 10/13 rp it means its in the redplum insert for that dates paper
PG or P&G = its the dame if you see 10/13 pg it means the October 13th proctor and gamble
Specific stores have their other coupons which we will get into later in this blog feel free to ask anything in the comments about this or something you don't see
