When I first started couponing and I read that a store doubles a coupon up to 99 cents I was under the impression that if you had a coupon that was 75 cents they would take off 99 cents total for that coupon. This is not the way it works when a store doubles up to 99 cents that means if you get a 99 cent coupon (very rare occasionally friskies or purina will have a printable like this) This coupon will double and take off 1.98 from the products cost.
Another thing with doubling is most stores will say they will double 4 like coupons... What does this mean exactly??? I will tell you it means if you have 5 of the same exact coupon for lets say 50 cents off the nescafe coffee sticks for instance they are a dollar right now at tops. If you get 5 coffee sticks boxes and do just one transaction so all 5 products and 5 coupons are in the same transcation the first 4 of the 50 cent coupons will double to 1 dollar the 5th will only take off its face value. If I had 50 cents off another product coupon in that transaction it would not be a "like" coupon and therefor it would double.
